How do I add my IP Camera
Integrating an IP camera with the Unicam app is a simple and convenient process that can be tailored to suit different user preferences and technical configurations. This guide provides clear instructions on how to add your IP camera using both automatic and manual methods.
Note: Unicam's automatic discovery finds cameras on your local network. To access IP cameras remotely from outside your network, use the Unicam Hub desktop application.
Automatic Camera Addition Using ONVIF Protocol
Understanding ONVIF
ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) protocol is a standard in the industry, allowing interoperability between IP security devices, regardless of the manufacturer. Unicam utilizes this protocol to automatically discover compatible cameras on your local network.
Initiating Automatic Discovery
- Open the Unicam app on your device.
- Navigate to the camera addition section and select the automatic discovery option.
- Ensure your device is connected to the same WIFI network as your cameras.
Discovering and Adding Cameras
- Unicam will scan your network for ONVIF-compliant cameras.
- Once the cameras are detected, they will be listed in the app.
- Select the camera you wish to add.
- You will be prompted to enter the appropriate username and password for the camera.
Manual Camera Addition
Adding Cameras via RTSP URL
If your camera is not ONVIF-compliant or if you prefer a manual setup, you can add your camera using its RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) URL.
- In the Unicam app, navigate to the manual addition section.
- Enter the RTSP URL of your camera. This URL is usually provided in the camera's documentation or web interface.
- If the stream is authenticated, you will need to provide the username and password.
Adding Remote Streams
Unicam also supports adding remote streams, whether they are RTSP, HLS (HTTP Live Streaming), or other formats. Follow the same steps as adding a camera via RTSP URL, but use the URL of the remote stream instead.
Handling Non-ONVIF Cameras
Some IP cameras may not support the ONVIF protocol. In such cases, manually entering the camera's URL (either as RTSP or HTTP) is necessary. Consult your camera's documentation to find the correct URL and authentication details.
